Latin America’s contribution to the fight against AIDS, TB and malaria

At the preparatory meeting for the Global Fund's Third Voluntary Replenishment, the debate on eligibility and prioritisation of middle-income countries was reopened as part of the donors' agenda to limit Global Fund beneficiaries to 'the poorest of the poor'. Donors want to see middle-income countries contributing to the Global Fund pot of resources. Friends - LAC argues that many countries in Latin America are already contributing through their national health budgets and that continued GF investment in middle-income countries is needed to catalyse interventions with key populations (people living with HIV, sex workers, transgenders, drug users). | Download - 327.08kb
